Impressive
McClelland Barclay amethyst rhinestone estate necklace and brooch. The
necklace measures 14 1/2". Emerald and pear shaped amethyst glass
and rhinestones are set in antique gold tone. The brooch measures 2 1/2"
x 1 1/4". Hallmarks: McClelland Barclay. Very good condition.
About
McCLELLAND BARCLAY
Born in St.
Louis, Missouri, Barclay was a student of H. C. Ives, George Bridgman
and Thomas Fogarty. In 1944 Barclay was awarded the Art Directors Club
Medal "in recognition of his long and distinguished record in editorial
illustration and advertising art.
During his career, McClelland Barclay produced illustrations, prints,
sculptures. and an exclusive line of costume jewelry which is highly valued
among collectors. As
an Illustrator, he created covers and graphics for General Motors and
numerous magazines such as The Saturday Evening Post.
